About the band
2015 promises to be a big year for The Long Distance Runners who are releasing their highly anticipated follow-up to their 2012 nationally acclaimed album, Tracks. For the past five years the St. John's rock band have steadily built a loyal following touring Eastern Canada where they've shared the stage with artists ranging from Wintersleep and Said the Whale to the Jim Cuddy Band and the NSO (Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra).
2014 was an eventful year that saw the addition of female vocalist and violinist Ilia Nicoll who had previously recorded with front man Chris Picco on his 2013 MusicNL award winning record The Beach. Ilia's distinct style brings a new dynamic to LDR's third studio record which brazenly showcases the groups eclectic influences with hints of alt-country, folk, pop and psychedelia.
To launch the upcoming record The Long Distance Runners have prepared a brand new stage show, and are working on plans to shoot several music videos. They look forward to hitting stages across the province and Canada in 2015. Stay tuned... Read more
