About the band
Far off in the great North Atlantic city of St. John's, Newfoundland, you will find a rock n' roll band by the name of Long Distance Runners. Born from the musical friendship of singer-songwriter Chris Picco and bassist Matt Hender in 2009, The Runners soon doubled to four (guitarist Dicky Strickland and drummer Adam Cardwell) and released a really cool self-titled debut EP in 2010 that went on to earn them multiple ECMA and MusicNL nominations. Drawing on classic musical influences from The Velvet Underground and Jonathan Richman to The Rolling Stones and The Kinks, The Runners have ascended swiftly on the Canadian indie music scene, earning them billings with bands like Gloryhound, Said The Whale, Wintersleep, Jim Cuddy Band and many more.
